Description The BSA Annual Conference 2007 took place at University of East London and the overarching theme was Social Connections: Technologies, Identities and Relationships. The plenary sessions were: Saskia Sassen (University of Chicago) who spoke on ‘Neither Global nor National: Novel Assemblage of Territory, Authority and Rights’; Bruno Latour (Sciences-Po, Parisl ) spoke on ‘From Associations to Modes of Existence’; Lord Anthony Giddens (LSE) was joined by Sue Duncan, Chief Government Social Researcher, and Prof Michael Rustin of UEL to discuss Sociology, Politics and Public Policy in 21st Century Britain. This conference also coincided with the launch of one new Sage/BSA journal, Cultural Sociology, and the 40th birthday celebration of another, Sociology.
