Title Annual Conference 2017 - “What is Sociology for?” session with Sasha Roseneil 01
Media Type Videos
Category Conference Videos
Description This conference session reflected and debated Sociology’s role in the national and international sociological community. It’s suggested that the journal has three key purposes: • To contribute to the theoretical extension of sociology; • To highlight methodological innovation and development in sociological research; • To showcase frontier and imaginative sociological research. For this session, the editors looked back over their editorial term and identified authors whose work has been published in the journal and whose papers effectively speak to each of these purposes. The authors were invited to contribute to this session’s provocation by discussing their work, outlining why they chose to publish in Sociology and how the issues they raised can be developed further by the journal, reflecting on what the paper achieved, which sociological spaces it opens up and what still needs to be addressed.
