Title BSA Annual Conference 2017: Dr Tomas Undurraga - ‘Cultural Sociology in the Financial Age’
Media Type Videos
Category Conference Videos
Description This panel will marked the 10th anniversary of the journal Cultural Sociology and the start of the new editorial team. Panelists reflected on the evolution of cultural sociology as an ‘intellectual field’ in recent years and mapped out some possible directions of travel. The focus chosen for this stock taking and more speculative exercise is the analysis of contemporary capitalism – dynamics of, engagements with, resistances against capitalism. In this video, Dr Tomás Undurraga discusses these concepts in relation to his paper ‘Making News, Making the Economy: Technological Changes and Financial Pressures in Brazil’, published in Volume 11 Issue 1 of Cultural Sociology, March 2017.
