This panel marks the 10th anniversary of the journal Cultural Sociology and the start of the new editorial team. Panelists reflected on the evolution of cultural sociology as an ‘intellectual field’ in recent years and mapped out some possible directions of travel. The focus chosen for this stock taking and more speculative exercise is the analysis of contemporary capitalism – dynamics of, engagements with, resistances against capitalism.
In this video, Dr Nick Stevenson discusses these concepts in relation to his paper ‘E. P. Thompson and Cultural Sociology: Questions of Poetics, Capitalism and the Commons’, published in Volume 11 Issue 1 of Cultural Sociology, March 2017.
